«Theobromine has no significant stimulant effect on the human central nervous system.[4] It is a bronchodilator and causes relaxation of vascular smooth muscle.[4] It is not currently used as a prescription drug.[5] The amount of theobromine found in chocolate is small enough that chocolate can, in general, be safely consumed by humans.

Compared with caffeine, theobromine is weaker in both its inhibition of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and its antagonism of adenosine receptors.[4][29] The potential phosphodiesterase inhibitory effect of theobromine is seen only at amounts much higher than what people normally would consume in a typical diet including chocolate.[30]
Toxicity

At doses of 0.8–1.5 g/day (50–100 g cocoa), sweating, trembling and severe headaches were noted, with limited mood effects found at 250 mg/day.[31]

Also, chocolate may be a factor for heartburn in some people because theobromine may affect the esophageal sphincter muscle in a way that permits stomach acids to enter the esophagus.[32]
Animals

Theobromine is the reason chocolate is poisonous to dogs. Dogs and other animals that metabolize theobromine (found in chocolate) more slowly[33] can succumb to theobromine poisoning from as little as 50 g (1.8 oz) of milk chocolate for a smaller dog and 400 g (14 oz), or around nine 44-gram (1.55 oz) small milk chocolate bars, for an average-sized dog. The concentration of theobromine in dark chocolates (about 10 g/kg (0.16 oz/lb)) is up to 10 times that of milk chocolate (1 to 5 g/kg (0.016 to 0.080 oz/lb)), meaning dark chocolate is far more toxic to dogs per unit weight or volume than milk chocolate.[citation needed]

The median lethal dose of theobromine for dogs is 100–200 mg/kg (0.0016–0.0032 oz/lb); therefore, a 10 kg (22 lb) dog would need to consume a minimum of 200 g (7.1 oz) of the most theobromine-rich (5 g/kg (0.080 oz/lb)) dark chocolate, or a maximum of 1 kg (2.2 lb) (of theobromine-rich milk chocolate), to have a 50% chance of receiving a lethal dose. However, even 40 g (1.4 oz) of milk chocolate may induce vomiting and diarrhea.[34]

The same risk is reported for cats as well,[35] although cats are less likely to ingest sweet food, as cats lack sweet taste receptors.[36] Complications include digestive issues, dehydration, excitability, and a slow heart rate. Later stages of theobromine poisoning include epileptic-like seizures and death. If caught early on, theobromine poisoning is treatable.[37] Although not common, the effects of theobromine poisoning can be fatal.[36]»

New Zealand Super Rugby player Connor Garden-Bachop has died at the age of 25.

Garden-Bachop died in Christchurch "following a medical event" on Monday, New Zealand Rugby said.

The winger's father, Stephen Bachop, played for Samoa and New Zealand and his mother, Sue Garden-Bachop, played for the New Zealand women's team, the Black Ferns.

He was the nephew of scrum-half Graeme Bachop, who played for the All Blacks at the 1991 and 1995 World Cups, and for Japan at the 1999 tournament.

Garden-Bachop most recently played for the Highlanders for five years, leaving earlier this month at the end of their Super Rugby campaign, where they reached the quarter-finals.

"All of rugby walks alongside the Garden-Bachop family at this time and we are collectively united in our grief," read the statement.

"Connor was a fantastic young player, an exciting New Zealand age-grade representative and a proud Maori All Black.

"Wherever he played, he was a committed and popular team-mate with infectious energy and someone who could light up the room."»

«Australian Premier Creates Ministry In Charge Of 'Changing Men's Behavior'

Tyler Durden's Photo

by Tyler Durden

Tuesday, Jun 18, 2024 - 09:15 AM

The development of totalitarian governments always coincides with sweeping efforts to socially engineer the population to adhere to less rebellious behaviors.  Specific groups that present a threat to the regime are usually identified and targeted with propaganda or indoctrination.  In tandem, the rest of the population is also conditioned to fear those groups and treat them with suspicion.  In this way the establishment elites mold the more submissive public into a shield that protects them from the revolutionaries that might dethrone them.

But what happens when the social engineers want to create tyranny on a global scale?  The list of possible rebels grows exponentially larger and efforts to control them all or demonize them all become far more complex.  How can the elites simplify their agenda and suppress the public with more efficiency?

The only answer is to attack and cripple the largest subset of the population that is most likely to give them problems in the future.  Which monolithic group is more likely to fight back against the system?  Obviously, the answer is masculine men.  Therefore, this new global regime seeks to undermine and sabotage men, labeling masculinity an existential danger to society, like nuclear weapons or global warming.

In recent years Australia has been at the forefront of many authoritarian experiments.  Their egregious violations of citizen liberties during the covid hysteria were astonishing.  Perhaps even worse has been the complete takeover of DEI within the Australian government along with the infestation of radical feminism.  Australia, it would seem, is all but lost to the nightmare of the woke religion.

That's why it's not at all surprising that the the Premier of the Australian state of Victoria has created a new ministry tasked with the purpose of changing and perhaps even controlling men.

Jacinta Allan announced this month that state MP Tim Richardson would serve as the inaugural Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behavior Change – the first position of its kind in the country.  The appointment was in response to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese calling gender-based violence a “national crisis” and promising greater government action.  First, Australia blamed guns for violent crime; now they are blaming men in general.

The mainstream media claims the new effort is in response to a 'crisis of sexist violence against women.'  The problem is that the data doesn't support this.  Hospital records for assaults and homicides in Australia show a steady decline among men and women in the past two decades, and they also show that men are much more likely to face victimization compared to women.

Of course, it all depends on how the government defines "sexist violence."  Does this include contrary ideas or mean words?  Let's not forget that for progressives words can be the same as violence.  Interestingly, Tim Richardson suggested that his role will focus primarily on the internet and how it "affects men's attitudes towards women."  In other words, the government likely wants to control speech on the web to prevent "toxic" male behaviors.

It is not the job of "all men" to take responsibility of the crimes of a tiny handful.  It is not the job of government to mold the behavior of the citizenry.

All western nations have been involved in the campaign to demonize men in one form or another, utilizing third-wave feminism as a vehicle.  Australia is simply acting as a beta test for similar programs to be implemented in other countries.

The use of feminism is necessary to fabricate a rationale; they can't merely attack men for being men or attack men for being potentially rebellious against authoritarian government, there has to be a "victim" that needs protection so that the attack on men appears justified.  Those who defend masculinity are thus by extension accused of threatening the safety of women.

In other words, the totalitarians become the "good guys" because they supposedly have women's best interests at heart.  And, since men are everywhere, the totalitarians need to be everywhere too so they can keep that terrifying masculinity at bay.  The global regime suddenly becomes sacrosanct; a precious defender of women's safety.

Of course, none of this is true.  The establishment's obsession with the cult of transsexualism is proof of that.  Their insistence that women are nothing more than a "social construct" that can be replaced by mentally ill men in wigs and makeup leaves little doubt that femininity is being targeted nearly as much as masculinity.  But the hyperfocus on men is logical if one accepts the possibility that the goal of these programs is to weaken western societies to the point that they are easy to conquer.  In this way, the war on masculine men makes perfect sense.»

Recent decline in sperm motility among donor candidates at a sperm bank in Denmark

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38834...

Lassen E, Pacey A, Skytte AB, Montgomerie R. Recent decline in sperm motility among donor candidates at a sperm bank in Denmark. Hum Reprod. 2024 Jun 4

(Denmake, Canada, UK)

Abstract

Denmark, 2017 - 2022

Variation in semen quality among men applying to be sperm donors

Summary answer

The motile sperm concentration and total motile sperm count (TMSC) in ejaculates,

both measures of sperm quality,

declined by as much as 22% from 2019 to 2022.

What is known already

Questions remain about whether human semen quality has declined in recent years.

Resolution of this issue has important implications for human fertility

Study design, size, duration

Semen quality of ejaculates previously collected from 2017 to 2022

Sperm bank locations, four cities in Denmark

6,758 donor candidates

Between 18 and 45 years old

(to determine whether their sperm quality met a minimum criterion for them to be accepted as sperm donors)

Participants/materials, setting, methods

All ejaculates were analyzed within 1 hour of production.

Computer-assisted semen analysis

Age, site, temperature.

2017 to 2019

Semen volume, sperm concentration, and total sperm count increased by 2-12%

2019 to 2022

Motile sperm concentration, down 16%

Total motile sperm count, down 22%

2019

Concentration of motile sperm, 18.4 million/ml

Total motile sperm count, 61.4 million per ejaculate

2022

Concentration of motile sperm, 15.5 million/ml

Total motile sperm count, 48.1 million per ejaculate

Limitations, reasons for caution

We cannot determine from the available data the causes of the decline in semen quality from 2019 to 2022.

Our results have implications for human fertility and the recruitment of sperm donors for medically assisted reproduction,

where motile sperm concentration is an essential selection criterion because it influences fertility.

We suggest that gathering health and lifestyle data on donor candidates at sperm banks might help to identify causal factors for the decline of sperm quality»
